According to the British Dental Association, approximately 12% of us are believed to experience extreme dental anxiety and around 25% of the UK population suffer from some sort of anxiety before a visit to the dentist.
Are you a nervous patient or do you suffer from “dental phobia”?
At Hook Lane Dental care we recognise that some patients may suffer from a phobia, which can be much more serious than simple anxiety. Patients experiencing dental phobia often try to avoid the situation altogether and often their oral health begins to suffer
How can we help you overcome your fear of visiting the dentist?
We believe in talking through these fears to be able to offer the best solution. Whether it is a fear of gagging, fear of needles, fear of pain, or fear of the unknown, there are many factors that may contribute to dental phobia. Our dentists will always talk through these fears with sympathy and sensitivity. We will then discuss the options that we offer to help you receive the treatment you need to take care of your dental health.
With this method of conscious sedation, the sedative drug is administered into a vein in your arm or in the back of your hand. The onset of the drug is very quick and the feeling of relaxation takes over within seconds of administering IV sedation. You will forget the feelings of anxiety and will not remember much about the treatment.
After IV sedation, you must not drive or operate any heavy machinery for the rest of the day
We charge £200 for intravenous sedation per appointment. This is a flat fee, unlike a per hour sedation rate. Many of our patients have said they prefer to know exactly how much sedation costs in order to budget for their treatment.
